It is difficult for anybody to accomplish much by themselves. But when people are willing to work together - great things can be accomplished.  I have experience and knowledge pertaining to accounting systems, auditing, litigation, law and management of various operations - and the common sense to allow others to work alone until they ask for help.  I like working alone too, but I also need someone to ask when I need help. I will be happy to help you and maybe you can help me too.  Ross Shade

SACRAMENTO AREA VENTURE CAPITAL NETWORK  -

In the past ten or twelve years I have been using the Internet to find information and have continued to gain knowledge. I would be happy to share what I know with you.

One change during these years has been the liberalization of the laws and regulations that enable small companies to raise capital. The Internet has provided me with contacts with entrepreneurs. This has enabled me to assist some of these in preparing private placement memorandum documents, offering circulars and has allowed me to prepare the forms required prior to offering to sell shares of stock to others. I have helped structure their new enterprises to meet their requirements plus I have helped prepare the bylaws and guided the shareholders and directors prior to their seeking capital. Without the Internet I might have had to go fishing or spend my time on the golf course - Instead, starting in 1990 when I left the San Francisco CPA firm that I founded in 1975, I have had a lot of fun and am enjoying the many challenges.

I set up the Sacramento Area Venture Capital Network in 1996 when a few venture capital networks existed. I have not looked lately but it was apparently a good idea that never really got off the ground. Even so, I thought then and still think these nonprofit organizations were the way to go. I followed the example set by organizations like the Silicon Valley Capital Network and the similar organizations at MIT, and the University of Texas and briefly at USC. - all of which allowed entrepreneurs obtain help that was free and when qualified they were introduced to potential investors (who paid for the opportunity to learn about new enterprises that needed capital). The organizations were set up and supported by the universities and the community, and unlike venture capitalists, they functioned so as to benefit the community, not the investor.
